The laughter and noise of children is a wonderfully regular experience at Christchurch. One of the most frequent observations from our visitors is the sheer number of kids present! If you have children then it won’t be long before they make friends with others their own age here.
We love children
We believe learning about God should be engaging and fun. God is not boring and we don’t want our kids to think that he is! So we have a program that includes all the things kids love – games, crafts, drama and teaching in a fun, informal atmosphere.
We have two crèches and five classes available. These cater for children aged 6 months up to 11 years, all staffed by CRB checked volunteers.
- Baby Crèche: 6 – 18 months
- Toddler Crèche: 18 months – 3 years
- Adventurers: Rising 3′s - Nursery
- Adventurers+: Reception
- Builders: Years 1 – 2
- Conquerors: Years 3 – 4
- Discoverers: Years 5 – 6
- Explorers: Years 7 – 8
The crèches, Adventurers and Builders all begin registration from 10:45am. Conquerors, Discoverers and Explorers all start after the notices have finished in the main service.
To find out the dates for Explorers just ask at the registration desk in the entrance lobby. Typically it runs once every three weeks. This class is provided to help understand how to listen to and engage with the sermons preached in the main meeting.
For children under 6 months we have a comfortable lobby where the service is displayed on a large screen. If you need to feed, or just have a quieter place for your child make yourself comfortable here. Nursing mums are welcome to use our Baby Crèche room for more privacy if they wish.
What do I do next?
If you would like your child to be involved in Generations simply register your children at the Generations Registration Desk in the entrance lobby and our volunteers will tell you which classes your children are in. If you wish you can download and complete the registration form before you get here. To find out when Explorers is just ask at the Registration Desk.
Peace of Mind
We take seriously our responsibility for the safeguard and welfare of every child entrusted to our care. We have adopted a number of policies including a Child Protection Policy, Registration and Dismissal Policy, Toilet Policy, Security Policy & Procedure, and a Discipline Policy. A copy of these is available upon request and we will be happy to discuss any aspect of these with you should you have any questions. In line with best practice we ensure that CRB checks are carried out on our volunteers and that no child is ever left alone in the company of just one volunteer.
